Gmail 101
Gmail is Google's free emailing website. When you make a Gmail, you make a universal Google account as well and are given access to it's other programs (Blogger, YouTube, etc.). When you join and make a Gmail account, you're given different folders and options on the left sidebar. There, you can find all of your received emails, sent emails, Google+ circles, chat, and a couple of other areas, such as folders for your received emails (junk, trash, starred, important), and sent emails too (drafts). You can switch from the Gmail area to Contacts or Tasks from the left as well.On the right side, you can change your settings for your entire Google account, for example, the spacing of the words on your page, your profile picture, and other general settings which I will go over later. You may also change your theme, which is the background for you email, to personalize it further. You can also send carbon copies, so it's sending to more than one person, or blind carbon copies, in which it sends to more than one person but the people you list in Bcc don't get listed in the sent box, which the person you originally sent it to will receive.
The Trash and Spam folder are really convenient to use. When you move an email to Trash or Spam, it automatically gets deleted after 30 days. When you write a contact into the spam contacts, everything that user sends you is automatically moved to spam, every time.
Archiving is also very helpful. When you archive an email, you are removing it from your inbox folder, which helps keep it organized, and then moving it to the All Mail folder, so you don't have to lose it by deleting it permanently, but you still have it in your email.
