- Only business school in Europe that provides a bachelors and masters in business administration and sustainability management.
- Living in Switzerland is decent as there are many activities to do there and it's safe as well.
Notes on Sustainable Consumption & Production: A Greener World:
-The planets' condition is deteriorating.
-Transport, buildings, food and drinks account for 80% of environmental impact, which includes CO2 emissions and waste.
-It can be measured by your ecological footprint calculation.
-It measure the amount of surface area needed to store our waste.
-If we don't make changes to our consumption/production habits now, by 2050 we'll need more than twice the earths surface area to absorb our waste and the CO2 it produces.
- Industry is one of the main things that can change it.
-The people have a choice whether they can get products that are ecologically better, and since they do the industry has to keep producing those products otherwise if they stop all of the progress will be lost.
- This progress and gain though, will be canceled out by an increase in consumption.
- The labels on the products need to be understandable to the consumers, thus, in Europe, they have their eco-label to show the citizen they have made a good purchase.
Notes on An Inconvenient Truth:
- It focuses on global warming due to humans and their consumption habits.
- The last 5 hottest years have occurred in the past 14 years.
-The warmer temperature has been causing bigger storms.
- If the glaciers melt, the average sea level will rise by 20 feet and flood Florida, India, Shanghai, and Manhattan.
Notes on Flight Moffett to Phoenix: Best of
- 2 pilots are flying in 2 different planes across America, in a one-seater plane
- The planes are solar-powered, there is no fuel on board.
- All of the technology on the plane can be used on the ground, the companies who made them aren't focused on aviation
- They are doing this flight with the objective of teaching others that they can be more sustainable with materials anyone can buy, and have it be very effective.
-The plane is relatively slow, it flies at 42 km/h
Notes on Arizona University: Graduation Ceremony
During the Arizona State University graduation, Pilots Andre Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard came to congratulate the students.
-They plan on making another solar plane which they hope to fly in 2015
-They have been working on the project since 10 years ago
- A major part on the second plane exploded and caused many problems, but also created opportunities.
How we can apply sustainable consumption in Bogotá:
You can apply sustainable consumption in Bogotá by creating less waste that comes from the product. We use a lot of plastic and other packaging materials that deteriorate the planet because it's difficult to recycle and it never breaks down into natural components. We could use less unnecessary packaging materials, and if that's not possible, we can find greener materials. We could also make the products last longer and allow you to get more use out of them before you have to discard them.
